He approaches great desserts the same way, in this case a slab of birthday cake and a softball-size hunk of ice cream to celebrate our friend Jody Milligan’s birthday. As Jody’s young daughter Jessica slid the Gophe’s platter through the serving window of the clubhouse kitchen, she asked how he’d been shooting.

Scott had been watching Jessica consistently break some fairly technical targets throughout the year at her family’s Hidden Haven Sporting Clays and Shooting Preserve facility just outside Sugar Grove, Ohio. He recounted his woes at one salty station and casually asked about Jess’ approach.

“It’s really not that hard,” the teen shrugged, as only young people who understand that shooting in front of a moving target isn’t molecular biology can shrug. She paused to serve another platter of cake and ice cream.

“It’s like what my mom always says: ‘See it. Believe it. Shoot it.’”
