Any thoughts on the new Benelli Vinci? My initial impression was that it did not live up to the hype. I do like how easy is seems to be to change the drop and cast, though.

LSUTIGER: I have to admit I watched the video several times. I am guessing that the action has been positioned a little differently for better balance. Also how well will the new attachment points for the stock and forearm perform after several years of use? If I read the specs correctly the Vinci weighs about the same as the SBEII. Any idea about retail price?

I don't like the new look of modern plastic guns. The gun would be too light for most serious target shooting. It does have the Benelli price that they are so famous for.

lashooter - I saw that the price is $1,500 for the camo model and around $1,400 for the black synthetic. I did see that it is just under 7 lbs. I think that one reason that Benelli's kick too much for me is that they are too light. I do plan to check one out soon, though. I saw a pretty good Vinci video on the american rifleman website www.americanrifleman.org that you should see if you might be more interested. For shooting target loads it seems like there's quite a bit of recoil/barrel movement with each shot.

I'm headed to the gun show and favorite nationally known side trip to see if I can lay hands on the Vinci this morning. I agree that you reach a point where light weight is counter productive. I'll let ya'll know if I am successful in finding a Vinci.

Well I visited the national chain in Gonzales and they did not know about the Vinci. Then I stopped at the other national chain who at least knew about the Vinci but they don't expect to see it for 6 to 9 months. The American Rifleman has a 28 minute clip that is very informative.

lashooter - I was at that Gonzales store last August. It's quite a store. I live in Massachusetts now and there's a pretty good gun store in Maine, which isn't too far from my home. I'm going to see if they can order one.

lashooter, That is the problem with test the waters advertising. You will see it in a magazine article and hear about it but it wont be for sale in the gun shops for about 8 to 10 months. Browning was known for doing this, they called it testing the waters to see what kind of response it got first. Thats a pain waiting:( 525

lashooter - ableammo has them listed on their website, ableammo.com. They only have one camo model in stock for $1479. Their prices are the msrp's on benelli's website. I ordered one from Kittery Trading Post in Maine, but they do not know how long it will be until it arrives.

Hey guys, I purchased a Vinci this morning and put 400 rounds thru it this afternoon. While I originally hesitated in purchasing it do to the fact that it is as ugly as homemade sin, I couldn't resist trying it out thanks to the advertising. After a full day of shooting, I've got to tell you that they weren't far off on the majority of their claims. I will go ahead and dispell the claim that the recoil is 72% less than a conventional gas auto. While it is less than my berettas, it's not all that different than my SBE and SBEII. The balance is great!! It really comes up to the shoulder nicely. The swing will take a little getting used to do to the positioning of the grip and trigger coupled with the set back fore end. It's so light that I found mysely initially swinging thru targets. Once I got used to it though, the patterning was excellent. While it doesn't hold a candle to my Teknys for shooting clays, it will definately be a welcomed addition to the dove field this Fall and the duck blind come Thanksgiving. Overall, I would say that it's a really good gun but will take a little getting used to for most experienced shooters. I paid $1300 for the APG camo model at our local gun shop. So if you have some extra cash laying around it would be worth a look.

I find this portion of your post interesting..."While it is less than my berettas, it's not all that different than my SBE and SBEII."

That seems to imply that you feel the recoil of the SBE and SBE II are less than your Berettas. I assume you are referring to a Beretta semi auto...probably a 390 or 391 series. If that's the case, you would have to be the first person that I have ever heard that said a Benelli had less recoil than a Beretta semi auto.

I'm not saying that I don't believe you, or that your opinion isn't valid. But I own an SBE II and for the life of me, my Beretta Xtrema and my old Beretta 311 both shoot smoother that that thing. So does my Browning Gold. To me, and many of the folks that I hunt and shoot with, Benellis have much more recoil than gas autos.

I guess the facts about ACTUAL recoil and FELT recoil are pointless. I suppose PERCEIVED recoil is the true test.

ClayShooterSC - it seems like you got a good price. I paid 1300 for the black synthetic model. I used it yesterday for the first time and I really like it. At 5 stand another shooter and I traded guns for a few shots. He had a 391 sporting and I thought that the the 391's recoil was less than the Vinci, but I did not think that the difference was significant. I shot 125 rounds with no mechanical problems and I have no soreness from recoil. ClayShooter SC, enjoy your Vinci!

I was like everyone else on the look of the Vinci. I couldn't decide if I liked it or not but I am a guy of change so I landed me a Max 4 camo one. After owning and shooting many many Benelli's I can honestly say the Vinci is by far the best shooter of them all. I first shot it at doves and I could not believe how well it shot and functioned. It was flawless and after a 45 minute 10 dove limit, the only thing I did not like is I didn't get to shoot it enough. You owe it to yourself to at least shoot one before passing judgment.
