My club offers Rio 1 oz. trap shells for $5.82. Are these shells any good for sporting clays?

shellblaster, to answer you question, " YES " they are more than satisfactory for sporting clays , 5 stand what ever, but they are not good for trap. in trap you should shoot nothing but the premium brands , federal, remington and winchester, for your sporting clays games and off brand shell is ok, because know one is expected to break every target on the course. so in that thinking shoot any junk shell you can for notsosporting clays. its just a game, its not a serious game at that, theres no money to be made shooting notsosporting.

Shell blaster don't listen to Philbob he's just a road hunting, sandbagging, short yardage, D class shooter that runs off all the new shooters at his club.

Could you be more of an arrogant A$$ Trap is boring and for people who cannot master the challenge of change. Doldrums is your life! If you think you need expensive shells to hit those easy trap shots, your even more the fool!

Rio's work fine however,in colder weather they sometimes only "pop".If shells are kept in a warm place & shot out in the cold, less of a problem.

Depends on which Rios you are talking about. The cheapest ones, I forget what they are called, are in a dark blue hull and "pop" in cold weather. Top sporting (green hull) and Star Team (light blue hull and high brass) don't seem to have this problem.
