And in your neck of the woods, too! The 7th Annual Southern Side by Side shoot is scheduled to occur near Raleigh on April 28th to 30th. It's apparently quite an event, and they even have the Parker/L.C.Smith challenge going on there. (The Elsies won the first one, and the Parkers the second).

Supposedly, there will be a lot of exhibitors (and expensive English doubles, I'm sure) there as well. It's going to be held at the Deepriver Shooting School. A full schedule of events, including ZZ birds (or "Helice"), too!

Check it out on www.deepriver.net And get that ol' Stevens ready to go! I just may make it, depending on my schedule. Maybe I could even embarass myself with my 20 or 28, or both. (Both of 'em wouldn't even make a down payment on one of those "high-class" guns!)

I saw the ad for that shoot in Shooting Sportsman and I am thinking about going. Raleigh is about a 4 1/2 hour drive from where I am.

Speaking of that magazine, and the comments made here about honesty when evaluating shotguns...Did you notice that the article on sub gauge tubes did not hesitate to show the faults of some brands? I wonder how their editor can get away with printing critical evaluations?

Hoot, I ALWAYS tried to report honestly about deficiencies when I was writing. (I retired now.) Those remarks usually got "edited out!"

I don't know how they could bublish the pictures with an OBVIOUSLY "dog" among them, but not even mention it!

Shooting Sportsman is obviously doing it right, come hell or high water, and that is a credit to them.

PS - I MIGHT just make it down, pending commitments. If I do, we'll have to get together. (Oh, no - a teacher and a retired Electrochemist/former Marine!)

Is there really such thing as a former Marine? I thought you guys were like the energizer bunny, you just keep going and going and going and...

Yeah, you are RIGHT! No such thing as a "former Marine". My "retired" nephew (a full MC colonel, flier, and Annapolis graduate)still works for 'em, and travels the world for 'em.

At 71, going on 72, and an ex-AmTrac crew chief, I'm a little old for "globe trotting", but am so amphibious, I still have webbed feet!

Semper Fidelis!
