I am considering purchasing a second hand shotshell reloader. I would like a progressive reloader and have found two units in good condition although I know nothing about ether or which is a better make. The units are a 12 gauge Pacific (Hornady) model 366 and a Ponsness-Warren 800B Shotshell Reloader. Both units progressive and both in very good condition. The Warren is about twice the cost but still under $325 and it looks a bit more industrial although I know nothing about the advantages and disadvantages of ether make. Would someone with knowledge of these units please offer some advice.
Regards, WDC

WDC I think that if you can buy a Ponsnes-Warren for under $325.00, go for it. Unless it a bag of bolts. That's one of the best, and it's strong, hench the industrial look. I paid that much for my Mec 9000G and it's not the loader that that is.

I have a 366 and love it ,I have loaded 12-16 a minute once you get going but I would say 10 is a fair estimate without restocking time and being careful. If you get the 366 take the brass tube for priners and grind a notch in it near the bottom so you know when you are low. This will save many aw sht's when you run out and powder hits the bench. Also you cannot remove a shell if there is a problem crimp or jam, must cycle through and start over. Another thing with the 366 is resizing is optional and another step, I don't resize for my o/u and it is smoother easier pull and not nessecary for me, if you shoot auto this could be a prob. With all the pros and cons I still like the 366. With the price of lead estimated at $22 next year we will all be buying factory shells soon anyway, ha,..

I have the new version of the PW 800, and it is a terrific machine. The loads are incredibly consistent. The nice thing about the current version is the removable shell holders. You can check your powder or shot charges periodically or remove the full if something goes wrong (unless you try to get one too many reloads from a hull, that probably won't happen). That was my only complain with the original 800. Also, if you like to experiment with different loads a lot, it is difficult because you can't remove a shell in the middle of the operation. However, once you get it set up, it is terrific. I have reloaded on the Hornaday, and it is a very good machine, but I don't care for the primer system.
Good luck.
